# What is a blind peptide test?

In a blind peptide test the laboratory is not told which compound the sample should be, and has to identify it from the data. As of 23 September 2026, that is stronger evidence of identity than a named-target test, which can only confirm or reject the compound it was told to look for.

## Why blind is stronger

In a blind test the laboratory is not told which compound to expect and has to identify it. That is stronger than a test that confirms a compound named in advance, because a named-target test can only say whether the expected compound is present.

A named-target test answers a narrower question. If a vial labelled as one GLP-1 compound held a different one, a test told to look only for the labelled compound reports that it is absent; a blind test reports what is actually there.

## Reading a blind result

Compound: The sample name on the laboratory's record should be the compound on the vial, not a related one.

Batch: The batch on the record should match the batch printed on the vial in hand. A report for another batch says nothing about this one.

## When it matters most

A blind test earns its price where compounds are easy to confuse or substitute: peptides sold under similar names, or a cheaper compound that could be passed off as a dearer one. For those, confirming the named compound is present is a weaker question than asking the laboratory what is there.
