# The lab supplies checklist: everything beyond the vial.

The vial is the expensive part. The rest of the bench costs a few hundred pesos, and having it ready before the courier arrives is the difference between a clean start and a scramble.

## The non-negotiables

Four items do the actual work. [Bacteriostatic water](https://www.primaralabs.com/marketplace/bac-water-3ml) first: no lyophilized vial can be used without it, and forgetting it is the single most common first-order mistake. The 30ml bottle is ₱300 and covers about 15 vials at 2ml each, so one bottle per several compound orders is the usual rhythm. U-100 insulin syringes second: a 1ml barrel for water transfers, a 0.3ml or 0.5ml barrel for fine measurement, reasons covered in the [syringe units guide](https://www.primaralabs.com/resources/how-to-read-a-u-100-insulin-syringe). Alcohol prep pads third, one per stopper per access, no exceptions. And a fine-tip permanent marker fourth, because an unlabeled reconstituted vial becomes an anonymous liquid within days.

| Item | Purpose | Source |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Bacteriostatic water 3ml | Reconstitution reagent | Primara Labs, ₱300 |
| U-100 insulin syringes | Transfer and measurement | Drugstores, medical supply |
| Alcohol prep pads | Stopper disinfection | Drugstores |
| Fine permanent marker | Dating and concentration labels | Any bookstore |
| Sharps container | Safe syringe disposal | Medical supply, or improvised rigid bottle |
| Insulated pouch + gel pack | Transport between locations | Department stores |

## Storage and organization

Dedicate one refrigerator zone to research materials: a small lidded plastic box on a middle shelf keeps vials upright, together, and clear of the rear wall where accidental freezing happens, a failure mode covered in the [freeze-thaw post](https://www.primaralabs.com/blog/freeze-thaw-mistakes). The box also blocks light and stops vials migrating around the shelf. Keep the marker and a small notebook next to the refrigerator, not in another room, so dating a vial at reconstitution takes five seconds instead of a trip. The notebook carries what the label cannot: batch numbers, reconstitution dates, volumes and draw records per vial. In Philippine heat, ambient shelf storage is not a real option for anything reconstituted, so plan refrigerator space before ordering multiple compounds.

## Sourcing it all in the Philippines

The split is convenient: everything sterile-but-generic is available locally over the counter, and the one specialized reagent ships with your compounds. Drugstore chains and medical supply stores stock U-100 syringes in all three barrel sizes and alcohol pads for pocket change. Gel packs and insulated pouches are department store items. Bacteriostatic water is the piece local retail does not reliably carry, which is why it sits in the [Primara Labs marketplace](https://www.primaralabs.com/marketplace) at a flat ₱300 and rides along in the same parcel as your vials, same-day in Metro Manila for orders verified before noon. The practical move: add the bottle to every second or third compound order and the bench never runs dry.

## Supplies questions

### What supplies does peptide research work actually require?

A short list: bacteriostatic water, U-100 insulin syringes in one or two barrel sizes, alcohol prep pads, a fine permanent marker for labeling, refrigerator space at 2 to 8°C, and a rigid container for used sharps. Everything else is optional convenience.

### Where do I buy insulin syringes in the Philippines?

Major drugstore chains and medical supply stores carry U-100 insulin syringes over the counter, in 0.3ml, 0.5ml and 1ml sizes. They cost a few pesos each. Alcohol prep pads sit on the same shelf.

### Does Primara Labs sell bacteriostatic water on its own?

Yes. The 3ml vial is ₱300, or ₱270 with the same 10% off as everything else, and it can be ordered alone or added to any compound order in the same WhatsApp chat. Most buyers add one water vial per compound vial to their first order.

### How should used syringes be disposed of?

Never loose in household trash. Collect them in a rigid puncture-proof container, a thick plastic bottle with a screw cap works, seal it when full, and hand it to a pharmacy or clinic that accepts sharps for proper disposal.
