# Growth Hormone Peptides Explained: GHRH vs Ghrelin (Philippines)

GHRH analogs, ghrelin mimetics, and growth hormone itself: how they differ, which are approved, and what the evidence shows. Research guide

In the Philippines, CJC-1295, ipamorelin and tesamorelin get called growth hormone peptides. None of them is growth hormone. There are three different routes. Route one is growth hormone itself, a protein made by the pituitary gland.

Lab-made growth hormone was first approved in the US in 1985. It skips the pituitary entirely. Route two, GHRH analogs. They copy growth hormone releasing hormone and press the GHRH receptor on the pituitary.

Examples: sermorelin, tesamorelin, and CJC-1295. Route three, ghrelin mimetics. They press a different button, the ghrelin receptor. Ipamorelin is one.

A 2021 review in Frontiers in Endocrinology describes ghrelin acting synergistically with GHRH. That is the idea behind pairing CJC-1295 with ipamorelin. A 2018 review noted secretagogues trigger pulsed release that stays under the body's feedback control. Status differs by compound.

Tesamorelin was approved in the US in 2010, only for excess belly fat in adults with HIV. Sermorelin was approved in the US for children with growth hormone deficiency, then discontinued in 2008. The FDA found that was not for safety or effectiveness reasons. Expats in Manila may know it from clinics back home.

CJC-1295 and ipamorelin are not approved medicines anywhere. What is unknown? That 2018 review found few studies, rises in blood sugar, and no large long-term safety data.
