Why do research peptides in the Philippines arrive as a dry powder, not a liquid? The answer is freeze drying. The process is called lyophilization. A peptide solution is frozen solid.

Then, under a vacuum, the ice turns straight into vapour without melting. That step is called sublimation. A final drying step removes most of the remaining moisture. What remains is a dry, porous solid that manufacturers call a cake.
