Bacteriostatic Water in the Philippines
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water for injection preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits microbial growth across repeated draws from the same vial. It is the standard reagent for reconstituting lyophilized peptides in laboratory work.

What bacteriostatic water is used for
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with a small amount of benzyl alcohol added, 0.9%. The benzyl alcohol slows the growth of bacteria, so the same vial can be opened with a needle more than once. Plain sterile water has no preservative and is meant to be used one time only.
In a lab, its main job is reconstitution. Many research peptides are shipped as a dry powder, called lyophilised, because a powder stays stable longer than a liquid. Before a peptide can be studied, that powder has to be dissolved. Researchers add the water slowly down the inside wall of the vial, then swirl it gently until the powder is gone. They do not shake it.
Storage is simple. Keep sealed vials at room temperature. Once the rubber stopper has been punctured, keep the vial in the fridge, write the date on it, and throw it away after 28 days.
