Is GHK-Cu FDA approved?
No drug containing GHK-Cu is approved by the US FDA or the EMA as of 23 September 2026. FDA lists GHK-Cu for injectable routes among compounding substances that may present significant safety risks, noting limited human safety data. Copper peptides also appear in cosmetics, which is a separate category from drug approval.

The drug records
US FDA: "No record found" for GHK-Cu or copper peptide in Drugs@FDA. EMA: "No record found". Neither database lists cosmetic ingredients, so the absence speaks to drug approval only.

FDA on injectable GHK-Cu
The compounding page (current as of 22 April 2026) lists "GHK-Cu (for injectable routes of administration)" and states: "Compounded injectable drugs containing GHK-Cu may pose risk for immunogenicity due to the potential for aggregation and peptide-related impurities. There are limited data in humans to inform safety-related considerations."
The listing is limited to injectable routes. It says nothing about topical cosmetic products, which are regulated differently.

Research and the Philippines
On the Research Desk GHK-Cu's strongest evidence is small human studies, from small topical trials on diabetic foot ulcers and skin after laser resurfacing. A search of fda.gov.ph for "GHK" on 23 September 2026 returned only an unrelated cosmetic brand advisory, and the registration record could not be read from the verification portal.

The human trials that exist
In a randomised, evaluator-blinded, placebo-controlled trial of a GHK-Cu gel on diabetic foot ulcers, median ulcer closure was 98.5% with the gel against 60.8% with the inactive gel; the abstract does not state the trial's size or phase.
Both human trials applied GHK-Cu to the skin. No published trial has given it by injection, which is the route FDA's safety-risk listing covers.

A null result
In 13 randomised patients after laser skin resurfacing, GHK-Cu skin care made no measurable difference to redness, wrinkles or blinded ratings, though patients rated their skin quality higher.
